Castelbello Castle
Description
Perched on a large rock in the village of Castelbello in Venosta Valley is Castelbello Castle. Originally owned by the lords of Montalban, it later came under the possession of various entities such as the counts of Tyrol, the Habsburgs, the Hendl family, the Italian State, and the Province of Bolzano.
After extensive reconstruction, the castle is now open to the public and hosts a permanent exhibition on the Roman Road Via Claudia Augusta.
