Next to the town of Vipiteno in the upper Valle Isarco valley, on a rock spur, there is Tasso Castle. Throughout the centuries the castle repeatedly changed hands, and finally in 1813 became property of the counts Thurn & Taxis as a compensation for the lost of the organisation of the postal system.
