Vipiteno and the mines of Monteneve
Description
The last town before the Brenner pass, located on a plain at the mouth of the Ridanna and Vizze Valleys, Vipiteno presents itself with arcades and characteristic 15th- and 16th-century crenelated houses.
Flowery balconies and wroughtiron signs decor the city center, closed by the 15th-century Civic Tower.
Nearby is the Monteneve Mine (the earliest mentions date back to 1237) the highest in Europe and the longest productive mine in the Alpine area. It is now adapted as a large mine to visit.
