Trento
Description
As a city of prince-bishops, situated at the confluence of three rivers, Trento could absorb various influences from north and south throughout its his-tory. In the 16th century, the town experienced an economic boom due to the holding of the Council. Worth seeing are the imposing Castello del Buonconsiglio with its spacious Renaissance halls and the Eagle Tower with its late Gothic frescoes; the Romanesque Cathedral of St. Vigilio; the cathedral square and the numerous Renaissance palaces that adorn the streets in the center.
