Bruneck and the Pusteria Valley
Description
The Pusteria is the widest valley furrow in the Eastern Alps, stretching from Rodengo Castle to the Collegiate Church of San Candido, washed by the Rienza River. It's a picturesque landscape with coniferous forests, verdant pastures, and gentle slopes, and the presence of dolomite ridges adds to the idyllic peace of the valley. Rodengo Castle, located at the mouth of the valley, is one of the most important fortified complexes in South Tyrol. In the heart of Pusteria, Brunico sits at the foot of Plan de Corones, where the Tures and Aurina Valleys meet Badia Valley. The historic town's charm is beautifully reflected in the grandeur of the mountain landscape.
Lastly, San Candido is home to the Collegiate Church, considered the finest Romanesque jewel in Tyrol.
