Transhumance and the Autumn Festival

Autumn is the time for an interesting event in many small towns all over Trentino-Alto Adige: “Almabtrieb”, the return of the livestock from the higher alpine pastures.
Sounds of cowbells, cows decorated with garlands parading down the streets, following the “queen” (the cow which produced the most milk), and a celebration downhill with music and tasting of dairy products.
