The Sacred Heart Procession in Bolzano
Description
In 1796, during the French invasions, Tirolean Catholics asked for the help of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Since the French invasion failed, every first Sunday after the Corpus Domini (middle of June), Bolzano celebrates the divine intervention with a grand procession, which starts from the Duomo and strolls through the streets of the city center, with marching bands, standards, Schützen companies, and the civil and religious authorities.
